Farm Yarn - lace weight

$20.00

Each skein is approximately 50 grams and 260 yards of 100% OHA suri alpaca

This is an art-style lace weight yarn. It’s the same weight of yarn used to produce our garments.

Due to some challenges in spinning the raw fiber into yarn (that happens when you’re working with all natural products!) the yarn had “too much character” to be run in the machines.

But this kind of character is perfect for hand knitting. Just wait until you see the texture it gives.

Don’t let lace knitting scare ya either!

  • The yellow/orange scarf sample shown in the photos was knit from a simple pattern called Feather & Fans (free on ravelry) used 2 skeins. This was a lightening fast, fun & easy knit that I did while watching TV.

  • The green cowl sample shown was knit holding 2 strands double on another easy & free pattern called Super Soft Spiral Cowl.

Notes on color:

I did my best to photograph & capture the unique colors provided by my natural dyeing process.

As a natural fiber with a natural color, this means there will be some inherent variation between skeins of the same color.

If you’re planning a specific project, please be sure to get enough yarn now. What is listed is all that I have. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. And next year’s yarn will likely be totally different in weight & color.

A few knitted samples are shown to provide for reference.

The simple lace eyelet neck cowl is knit from 2 skeins of our marigold-dyed yarn. The pattern is the Brigandine Cowl from Kirsten Hipsky which is a free download on Ravelry.

The colorwork cowl features our black yarn, which used 2 skeins and as well as a gradient yarn from Spincycle. The pattern is the Reverb Cowl from Kacey Herlihy on Ravelry.
